Upgrades To Montague Road

Montague Road is set to get a $2million facelift with widening of the road, new kerbs and gutters and a centre median.  The upgrade will also feature indented bus bays, improved street lighting, new footpaths, improves stormwater drainage, painted bucycle lanes and landscaping.  The Australian Government and the City of Tea Tree Gully are both contributing $1million to the project that will commence later this year.

Proposed Improvements

Road Width

The road pavement will be widened to accomodate a traffic and bicycle lane in each direction.

Kerbs, Gutters and Medians

Kerbs and gutters will be installed at the new road edges along with a raised centre median to provide storage for right-turning vehicles.

Footpaths

New block paved footpaths will be installed along both sides of the road.

Drainage

Stormwater drainage will be improved with the construction of new stormwater pits and pipes to reduce surface water flowing along Montague Road.

Street Lighting

Street lighting will be up-graded by installing new lights on existing stobie poles and the addition of new light colums on the southern side of the road.

Bus Bays

Indented bus bays will be provided on each side of the road and the footpaths upgraded to provide improved access for all pedestrians.

Bicycle Lanes

On-road bycicle lanes will be provided to increase safety for cyclists.

Landscaping

Trees and shrubs will be planted to contribute vitality and enjoyment to the public domain.

Possibly closure of Tina Drive (rear of Clovercrest Shopping Centre) will allow for more car parking for the centre.

Enviromental Incentives

Isn't everything looking so green - and didn't it seem to happen so quickly once the rain started.  However, we know that it won't take long to fade away once summer starts, so have you invested in a rainwater tank? - just a hint, when you do get one set it as high as you can the the "head" pressure will allow you to use a hose instead of a watering can.

Have you thought about the other incentive available:

1. Energy Efficient

Solar Panels

Solar hot water services

Ceiling insulation

2. Water Efficiency

Dual flush cisterns

Water efficient showerheads

3. Gardens

Worm farms

Compost bins

Compost stirrer

Mulch borders -now is a great time with the soil wet
